Jio 4G Welcome Offer ends on December 3 : Sector regulator Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) Thursday said that the free services by Jio will be limited to 90 days, which ends on December 3.Mukesh Ambani’s dream telecom service Jio on September 5 announced with free tariff offers, which is termed as the ‘welcome offer’ till December 31.
TRAI said an order “The revised offer of free services by Reliance Jio has been limited to 90 days i.E. December 3, 2016, and therefore is consistent with the guidelines on promotional offers,” TRAI said in an order. The tariff plans offered by RJIL and various submissions thereafter have been examined and it is found that the tariff plans filed with Trai can’t be considered as IUC non-complaint, predatory and discriminatory at present. However, the Authority would continue to keep a close watch on the tariffs being offered in the market by all players including RJIL.
Telecom market leaders like Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, Vodafone India, Telenor India and Videocon Telecom on September 20 complained the TRAI to intervene saying as per rules, a promotional offer could only run for 90 days and Jio’s free offer violated the Telecom Tariff Order of 2004.However, TRAI rejects that RJio did not violate any rule.
