India Beat New Zealand by 197 Runs to Win 500th Test

India beat New Zealand by 197 runs to win prestigious 500th Test on the final day’s play in Kanpur on Monday(26-09-16),lead the series 1-0 in the three-match series.The second test match,at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, also a historic 250th home test match for India on Friday.

New Zealand bowled out for 236 in the second innings.Ravichandran Ashwin’s 6 wicket haul helped India to a comfortable win with more than a session to spare.Resumes the day with 93-4 Kiwis batsmen Luke Ronchi (80) and Mitchell Santner (71) struggled Indian bowlers for 20 overs in the morning session,after 102 runs between them Ravindra Jadeja got the breakthrough with the wicket of Ronchi.After Ronchi’s departure,Santner fought back for some time.Ashwini took all three last wickets.

500th-test-match

Ravindra Jadeja is the Man of the Match, while Ashwin bagged a total of 10 wickets(first innings 4+second innings 6) in both innings, becoming the fastest Indian to scalp 200 wickets.

With this win, India has taken their unbeaten tally on home soil to 11 matches. New Zealand, on the other hand, has remained without a win on the Indian soil since 1998.With this win, India has also inched closer to the No.1 spot in the ICC Test rankings.
