TADA court has been announced Life Imprisonment for Abu Salem and Karimullah Khan with Rs.2 Lakh penalty. Feroz Abdul Rashid Khan, Taher Merchant were given a death sentence. Another convict Riyaz Siddiqui was sentenced to 10 years in jail. All punishments will run concurrently.
24 years ago On March 12, 1993, India’s commercial capital Mumbai witnessed 12 serial bomb explosions between 1.30 pm and 3.40 pm. In this incident, nearly 257 innocents lost their lives and 713 people injured.
The CBI claimed that the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, Tiger Memon, Mohammad Dosa and Mustafa were planned as retaliation to the Babri Masjid demolition in Ayodhya in 1992. A special court TADA concluded the trail in 2007, and TADA court announced 100 of them were convicted. One of them Yakub Memon was sentenced to death in 2013 by the Supreme Court of India.
